    Hi cow folks,

A while ago I saw Carl Larsen’s AE tutorial: File Management in After Effects
    https://library.creativecow.net/articles/larsen_carl/filemanagement.php

And I wanted to know if there is a similar feature in final cut?
Can I easily export my project with all of its assets so I could work with it on a different computer?

I think I saw something about this in Final Cut Server but I really need this feature in Studio.

I know I can just copy the assets manually but there’s a big chance something will be lost in the process.

    Thanks,
    Nadav

It’s very simple using the Media Manager “copy feature,” which can copy any and all elements to another disk. I suggest that you check it out in the FCP manual. Be sure to use “copy” rather than “move,” as it is completely non-destructive.

    Hello David,

Thanks for this tip. BTW, should you “select all” on the timeline or in the browser bins?

I’m guessing if you want all the elements, even the ones you may not have used on the timeline, you need to select all in the browser. Is that how it works?

    Thanks,

Yep, if you hit Apple + a in the main browser tab it highlights everything in the project. Then you open Media Mangler, oops that should be Manager, and you go from there…

    David,

    MANGLER is correct.

I have so many didn’t copy and can’t find issues it’s ABSURD.

Is there a good way to make an archive copy to another drive without all the B?

    Regards,

    Ty,

I’ve never had a single problem using the copy function in Media Manager, of course I’m very meticulous about file-naming, reel numbering, etc. So, I don’t know exactly what to tell you other than to suggest that you avoid the checkbox pertaining to file consolidation and try again.

I’ve have never had luck with Media Manager bringing copying over the render files successfully BTW. That is the one caveat I forgot to mention… So, I just avoid that checkbox altogether, and just re-render after all my files copy over.

Hope you get it figured out…

Oh, be real sure your new drive is formatted Mac Extended…

    David
