Keeping Audio True on Export
Anyone know how to export two tracks of audio (along with video) from a FCP timeline while keeping the audio identical to tracks 1 and 2 in the timeline–that is not mixing the two tracks together on the exported tracks?
I’ve tried the following:
-File/Export/QuickTime Movie/
-under Settings I chose “custom”
-within the audio settings I’ve selected “discreet channels.”This does give me two mono channels of audio, but they are identical with both of my formerly distinct channels mixed onto each of these new discreet channels.” I’ve tried similar settings in the File/Export/QuickTime Conversion to the same results. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You need to pan the the audio channels. If you go into your audio mixer above the faders you will see Left/Right pan controls. Pan track one so it’s left, track 2 so it’s right.

and if there are ANY cuts you have to pan on EACH video clip.
it will re-center if you don’t

I think you only have to adjust on each clip if you’re utilizing the Modify Menu/Audio/Pan functions, but if you use the Audio Mixer, as Ralph suggested, that will mix the entire track in the timeline to the left and right.

there’s TWO steps to this process.
step1
in your sequence settings > audio outputs tab, choose dual mono.step2,
back in the timeline,
right or control click on or near the lock icon (left hand side of timeline)
this is where you assign each track to an audio output.there is NO visual indication of the assignment,
so double checking is a good idea.cheers,
