  MPEG Streamclip not exporting complete file.

  Thanks to this forum I found Streamclip and thought it was going to save me but now I am running into problems. I don’t believe anyone else has had this problem posted so I hope this is not a repeat.

  I had a client ask me to shoot an event that they were going to post on the web and after the event all they wanted was the tape with the raw footage. They were going to edit and put on the web themselves. OK simple enough. Well after the event their multi-media person said they could not capture footage from a tape and that they need a wmv or avi. So I found Streamclip from the forums here and downloaded it and started making files. Gave them a test clip and it worked for them. Test clips were only 5 seconds long.

  When I went to make a wmv of the full length of the clip which is 22 minutes it only exported out 30 seconds. The original file is a QT movie export out of FC. Then I put it into Streamclip and export to other formats. I select windows media and change the preset to WMV 9 Advanced, 2 pass CBR, 66 Quality, Bit Rate 6200, 720×480, and Frame Rate 29.97. Complexity: Live Normal, input-output: Interlace Upper Field First. Audio I leave the preset as is. I hit OK and it exports 30 seconds of my 22 minute clip.

  Any suggestions or anyone ever run into this problems before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  You need to purchase the full version of Flip4Mac. You only have the demo version.

  I’d also check with them on th best format for them to edit. WMV is not a good source to edit from. Try uncompressed quicktime

  Thanks guys. I figured I would have to buy the pro version of flip4mac. Didn’t want to add cost to the project. I have tried to get them an avi but I can not get an export that works for them in that format. They can only use avi, wmv, or MPEG-1. The only export that I have been able to make that works for them is wmv. They are editing in Windows movie maker so already it is not an ideal situation. Unless you have an export that makes an avi that will work in movie maker, I am open to suggestions. When they open my avi’s they get an error message that says codec is incompatible.
