  Strange effect in videos

  I just purchased the HFS10. I’m using the latest version of Final Cut Express. Works flawlessly.

  I filmed me playing an electric guitar and I get this fine grained, subtle metallic zebra striped swirl effect on the strings of the guitar and on my blue jeans. But no where else. Anyone know what causes this? What am I doing wrong? I filmed in 30P, highest quality. I noticed the FCE AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec is only i60 and not 30P. Do I need to set the camera to 60i? I didn’t notice the effect on the camera screen, but see it clearly on my HD monitor in FCE. It’s very annoying.

  This is called the MOIRE effect, or MOIRE pattern.

  To avoid it…don’t shoot striped patterns. A small amount of blur will get rid of this too.
