  creating a flashing red/green light effect

  Hi,
  I’ve been approached to edit a short film that sounds fun but a key part of it involves creating an effect of a flashing light. The central character has a small device stuck onto their neck which is supposed to flash red or green at different stages of the film, but the director shot it with just a ‘dummy’ thing there which doesn’t actually flash, intending to add it in post production. The rest of the film will be in black and white with just this aspect in colour.

  I have been using Final Cut for a while but have no experience of adding effects having only done simple documentary stuff… any ideas on the simplest/best way to achieve that effect or how difficult it would be?
