import XDCAM HD footage
Posted by Tel Jaba on August 12, 2009 at 3:35 pmhey guys
I received some footage on a XDCAM HD disk, I have the XDCAM transfer , i am able to see the proxy files but when adding the clips folder it says that it contains 0 files, eventhough I am able to see that there are MXF and XML files in the folder when I view it in finder!!!
any idea?Marie Peuliche replied 16 years, 8 months ago 5 Members · 5 Replies -

August 12, 2009 at 4:02 pmSince you see the proxies in XDCAM Transfer I suppose that the deck is in FAM mode.
The way I import XDCAM HD is :
1. Connect the deck
2. Set it to FAM mode (if it’s in FAM the deck’s display says PC REMOTE!)
3. Insert disc and proxies will load (you see the progress bar)
4. Set everything that you need (I mean 2 -4 audio channels , naming , folder etc.) and hit Import
5. Select the clips you want to import and hit IMPORTIt should work this way with FCP 6 and above (I don’t know FCP 5)

August 12, 2009 at 4:37 pmAre you copying the folders to your drive?
You can copy the Sub folder to see the proxies, but the Clip folder stays on the disc. Use XDCam Transfer to convert / import the files. Make sure the check box in XDCam Transfer / Logging / Subclips is checked on. This tells Transfer to import the checked selection. Highlight the clip and hit import. You can have multiple subclips and only import the checked ones. Also if the disc is not in the player you can not import the video files for FCP to use.hope that helps

XDCAM HD and XDCAM EX are somewhat different animals, different physical media and different folder data structure. Your words “but when I import the clips folder” are a bit worrying. Thats not how you do it with XDCAM HD. In the Sony XDCAM Transfer app your mounted XDCAM disc should be automatically recognized, you should not be importing clips folders and whatnot.

September 7, 2009 at 9:20 amHi
Got XDCam footage shot on IMX. Copied it to an external harddisk and are now trying to get it into FCP.
Installed XDCAM transfer and it seems to be working, but when we import via FCP/import/Xdcam only proxy files appear.Help! Please anyone.
