huge export issue….help!!!
I’m having a huge problem exporting a sequence in FCP6 .I had previously exported a short highlight with the same settings and everything was fine. Last week I started adding a bunch of footage to the highlight to make alonger edit and finally finished the long edit. I went to export it and I was getting error messages and compressor was hanging in the middle of the export. Is there anything that would cause this. I’m really need to get this thing exported and to DVD. Am I SOL or does someone have any suggestions? Any help would be fantastic. Thank you!

What steps are you taking to export? Are you sending an FCP reference file to Compressor? If so, with what settings?
Did you set up a cluster with QMaster?

Hi Rob,
I’m pretty much a noob at this.I didn’t try a reference file I just tried sending it to compressor from the FCP file menu. I was trying to get it to DVD. I used the “DVD best quality to fit 90 inutes on DVD”.I am editing on a timeline with a 1080i setting. Does that help you. I am also mixing 5d and canon a1 footage. I really lost here. Sorry for not being able to give you more info. I would really appreciate any help you could offer me.Thank you so much for you response!

it’s best not to “Send To Compressor”, or Export via Compressor: or whatever it;s called from FCP.
simply export your rendered timeline as a QuickTime Movie, same settings.
you can export as a reference movie, or export as self contained.
if you export as reference, don’t expect to be able to open it next week.
safer to export as self contained if you think you might want the file in the future.then take that file into compressor, and see if the conversion works there.
