This sounds ridiculous, but I’m completely stuck. I’m trying to play in DVCam footage through a Sony HVR M25E. Straightforward firewire in to the computer. But none of my computers (G5 Dual processor, G4 Powerbook and MacBook Pro) will recognise the deck! I’ve unplugged all firewire devices, I’ve switched the deck off/on etc. I’ve shut down the computers and started them up with the deck on/off. I’ve set the menu in various configurations, but that shouldn’t really matter because all I want to do is see that the deck is connected. I’ve plugged it in and checked the Firewire busses in ‘more info’ on the apple menu, but the deck won’t show up. I’ve been told there might be some firmware download I might need for my computers to see the deck, but that’s just daft, I’m convinced there’s something wrong with the deck, but my friend was using it to capture footage using a G5 and didn’t have any problems. Current menu settings are

HDV/DV Sel – Auto (though I’ve also tried DV)
    iLink set – Off
    EE/PB Sel – EE.

I’ve tried many variations but the problem seems to be more fundamental than menu settings. How I wish I hadn’t sold my DSR45 never had any problems with it.

    Hope someone can help.

    Cheers
