Color Correction on a Macbook Pro.
Hello,
I have looked long and hard for the answer and I have not yet found it. Please excuse me and be kind to link the appropriate site or forum if this has already been addressed, Thank you.
I own a 17 inch MBP and I work in FCP and AE. My work is mostly geared towards the web and desktop environments.
I have begun to color correct my work however, I cannot afford nor keep a grading monitor and/or external video card.
Is it possible to calibrate the MBP screen to achieve good results in color correction? What are the conditions and limitations?
Please advise.

buy this color probe. Calibrate your monitor every couple of weeks. Since you’re delivering to web and desktop environments you don’t need to sweat having a broadcast monitor.
eventually you want to buy an eternal LCD to run off your Macbook (like an Eizo perhaps…. great looking monitor – self calibrates with a probe)

Here’s another thing…
Use your scope inside of FCP. They are close enough for ANY work.

I looked at various products similar to the X-Rite (Pantone Huey, La Cie Blue Eye, etc.) and I could not find information specifically regarding video grading. Can a photographer’s use be the same to a video editor’s?
Also, do you own this product? How has your experience been?

Yes. My experience in CC is limited but I have learned some of the basic principles of reading the scopes.
However, to my knowledge they work best to keep within color safe areas and I have yet to apply them in creating looks.
Perhaps I need to educate myself further in this topic.
