Window Dub showing TC and Clip Name??
I need to make a Time code window dub for a client to log. I shot and digitized the HDV video using the HDV Intermediate codec. To my knowledge no time code from tape, bummer.
The fix is to use the timecode generator filter, but this only generates TC for the length of each clip, which is usable, but, Now I need to burn the clip name too for reference.
**Question??
How do you do a window burn showing the clip name and timecode efficiently.Michael Horn, Tradewinds HD

Why? Time code is plenty. All you need to find the shots. There is no filter that adds clip name in FCP. Avid, yes, but not FCP.

Your right, Timecode is plenty! But for some reason I can only get the time of the clip. For example 00:00:00:00 to 00:00:30:04 for a clip that is :30 seconds and four frames.
I’m using HDV, it has timecode but does the FCP import/digesting software?

Wait, isn’t that what you want? That’s the point. You want the producer to be able to see the timecode of the source footage, so that they can give it to you.

Pardon, what are you asking? HDV has timecode. When FCP captures the footage, it captures the timecode too. So when you apply the Timecode Reader, it reads the timecode on that footage and shows it visually.

You can use my TCR Plus (plugin/app)
This requires two steps. Use the video filter (which behaves more or less like the TC reader which comes with FCP) to do your setup – you only need to do this for one clip. Then export as XML and process the XML with the little TCR Plus application. Re-import the XML and you’re done.

I know this topic is a bit out of date, but now with all our wonderful 5D footage that we get to work with, each clip starts at 0:00:00.00
Is this Spherico application still the best way to add clip name to TC overlay in FCP? Has Final Cut added this functionality natively, or is there a better way someone has come up with since this topic back in 09?

Yes. Get the Canon EOS Log and Transfer plugin and bring the footage in via Log and Transfer. It assigns the TIME and DAY code as timecode. VERY helpful.
