  No output from fcp to monitor?

  Hi everybody. I am using fcp with a sony dvw-a500p digideck link through to a sony 14″ monitor. However i can view the digideck fine on the monitor but not my fcp edit until i am exporting to tape.

  I used to be able to view the edit sometimes and just thought things were a bit cranky but now i cant view my editing at all!

  I have read some things that your sequence settings have to match your audio video playback settings of which they appear to do.

  I am using a kona LHe and the settings of my sequence are:

  625i25 10 bit(720×576)
  Pixel aspect pal CCIR (720×576) upper dominance 25fps

  The Kona card settings seem to be the same as fcp (625i25)

  Im still learning all this stuff so some help would be great

  Any ideas anybody??

  hi Neville

  your monitor should probably be connected directly to your card (kona LHe) not to the deck, and so does the deck (I/O and deck control)

  then, in the view menu

  select the right video playback and click command F12

  if your speakers are connected to your card, as they should be, select “audio follows video” in the audio playback option.

  Hmm thanks for the reply. I need to constantly flip between monitoring the digideck and my edit and i only have 3 I/O ‘s in on the kona card. One is in, one is out and i believe the other is for keying i think.

  Its wierd that i used to be able to scrub through and see it on my external monitor but not now.

  Kona LHe is supposed to have a break out cable… with many more ins and outs

  

  are you sure you have the Kona LHe?

  the three BNC connectors are SDI I/O

  read through the card’s manual.

  it shouldn’t be too complicated.

  yeah it does have that breakout cable. I will try that. I think just the main thing that has confused me is that i could see the output and without changing any of the cable setup i cant see it, hence why i wondered if it was a settings issue.
