    That’s why you should, instead, export your timeline as a ref file, using current settings, and bring that into Compressor. You’ll still have full control of FCP that way.

    I think I read that FCP7 will allow you do it directly from the timeline and affect usage of FCP at all.

    The new feature lets you send a timeline to compressor where it becomes a background process. That part is great, as you can continue to edit.

    I just happen to look to see if I could import some P2 footage and noticed that the Log and Capture and Log and Transfer options were grayed out.

    It is still a great feature, because editing can still be done while compression is happening WITHOUT making a separate QT.
