  digitizing HDV 24P using basic DV camera

  Hey guys. Wondering if it is ok to digitize the 24P HDV footage shot by someone else, by using a basic consumer DV camera. I don’t need to work in 24P, 29.97 is fine. I’ve digitized a few clips and wonder if I’m seeing some interlacing. The clips actually look quite interlaced when viewed in Quicktime, but decent in FCP.

  Nope…can’t. HDV doesn’t play on a DV camera. Same tape, but different signal entirely. You need an HDV camera, and one that is the exact same brand as the one the tape was shot on, as there are different formats of HDV.
