  AE graphics in HDV timeline

  I am pulling my hair out over here. I have an HDV sequence in FCP with graphics created in AE mixed in. The AE graphics were exported with the animation codec and the HDV sequence is setup as the default HDV 1080 60i settings.

  My HDV footage looks fine, but my AE graphics looks jagged unless I change the sequence compression to animation. When I export a DVD file via compressor, the graphics look fine but the HDV footage looks like crap.

  What are my options here, I’m about to fill my mac tower up with epoxy and use it as a doorstop.

  Re-capture our footage as ProRes, or change your compressor to ProRes and render.

  Uhhh….not really an option. Plus I don’t have FCP 6.

  Well then,

  I would try transcoding your footage to a codec your version of FCP can handle, then pass that workflow through AE and back. HDV is the worst codec for editing and compositing, get rid of it.
