  Encoding of v210 files from ProRes HQ

  Hi all,

  I’m new to this forum, first post.
  I’m about to proceed with the replication of 5000 BDs containing a doc shot in HDCAM 25p and edited in Apple Pro Res 422 HQ.
  The replication facility is asking me for v210 HD files. My question is, can I encode the v210 files with Compressor, starting from my original Apple Pro Res 422 HQ files ?

  Sure. You should be able to give them an Uncompressed 10 bit file and they should read it. Send a small movie (2 seconds or so) to test it.

  my only doubt is if they can use this file, I’m on a Mac and they use a PC (Scenarist and Blucode for authoring and encoding).
  I read on the Internet that v210 is in two versions, AVI and QT, one totally different from the other.
  I’ll send a test clip.

  AVI and QT are containers. It’s what’s in those containers that determines the contents of the file.

  If they can red 10bit v210 QT files, then you should be ok.

  Also, there’s a codec pack for Windows that allows v210 reading of QT movies available from AJA for free.
