    Hello,
I am capturing with my XH-A1 camera on a FCP 5.1.4 and having a horrible time. I have tried so many capture setting combinations but it consistently has trouble locating timecode. I’ve finally settled on this:

Sequence Preset: HDV -1080i60 (although when captured these clips are 23.98)
    Capture preset: HDV
Device Control: HDV Firewire Basic NDF (i filmed in NDF) with frame rate set at 29.97 (Canon uses this proprietary 24F frame rate which i think FCP has trouble with because it is not progressive)

When I batch capture on this setting it will work for a clip or two then crap out. So I close the capture window and try again and it then will locate that clip’s timecode that it just failed on, but then fail again on the next. It makes no sense.

Any thoughts on this? Have others had the same issues with the XH-A1 and the 24F format with FCP?

    Thanks much

    Mark,

I think your problem is your older version of FCP. FC Studio 2 works very well with HDV off that camera, I do it every day, plus, you can capture to ProRes, much prefered.

    Have a wonderful day.
