  • Final Cut unexpectedly quits after 20+ min of capture

Posted by Benedek Toth on July 15, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Hi Guys. I’ve been having a little problem here and its driving me NUTS!

Okay. I’m new to final cut and not exactly sure what my settings in my easy setup should be and such…

The video I am trying to import was shot in 30p on a DVX110B, I am trying it to import it using a Panasonic PV-GS320. For about 20 minutes, everything goes all nice and smooth, then, randomly FC decides to loose the timecode and quits on itself. I have no clue what my settings should be or anything like that, could my settings be wrong? Is it the camera I’m trying to import on?

    Thanks,

    -Bence

Not that I know of, I’ve just capturing it to my Macbook Pro’s internal drive. I plan on later transferring it to a G-Raid external drive.

Check your preferences. You may have a capture limit set.

It’s also not a good idea to capture to the internal drive, even if you intend to transfer it later.
The drive might not be able to handle a long capture and the tasks put on it by the system and OS reliably.

Terrible idea. Never capture to a system drive.

As suggested by John, make sure you don’t have a Capture Limit set.
