I’m capturing footage via “Capture Now”, but there are a few seconds missing from each captured clip. Anyone ever have this problem?

It’s footage shot by someone else using a consumer tape (Fuji DVM60). Could it be that the lower quality tape is to blame? It plays back just fine within the camera though.

Edit: Watching the camera while capturing is happening, I see that for each clip, the tape is being cued to the first frame at the time code break, and then rolling for about two seconds before FCP starts capturing. FCP says “Cueing source” at this time, but it’s playing the clip already, rather than pre-rolling before the clip begins. What’s going on here?

Update: I confirmed that this is the case with tapes I’ve shot as well, so I guess it means FCP needs 2 seconds of pre-roll in any shot before capturing begins. Hadn’t noticed before since I’ve always been in the habit of rolling a while before “action” anyway. This latest tape was shot by folks even more amateur than me, so there you have it. I’ll have to be a better coach next time…
