recapture clips
Posted by Gabriele Girardi on July 8, 2009 at 2:28 pmHi everybody,
i have a 30 minutes sequence and i realized to have 3 or 4 clips off llne in the timeline….
obviously they refer to a 20 minutes master clip….but these clips have a duration of only 40 seconds total, so how can i recapture this pieces using timecode reference???
thanx

Are there ins and outs marked on the clip? There should be media start and media end which represents the whole of the clip, then there’s the in and out which represent in and outs marked on the clip itself. If you right click the four clips and choose ‘Batch Capture’ from the drop down, FCP should recap the whole master clip.

July 8, 2009 at 3:05 pmSince there’s only a few offline clips and you don’t want to relink to the original master, maybe open your Scratch in Quicktime, trim and save new copy, and force reconnect the new files… perhaps there’s a better way some knows?

July 8, 2009 at 3:40 pmMake a new bin. Drag those offline clips from the timeline into that bin. Then highlight those clips, right -click on them or control click and choose MEDIA MANAGER. Choose CREATE OFFLINE and include handles. This will make the clips separate from the master clip. Recapture those.
For full workflow on how to do this, refer to the user manual in the FCP help menu….type MEDIA MANAGER and you will find it.
