    Have a look here:

    https://www.stereo3dtoolbox.com/

Still in BETA. But you can download and test it, and there are some really good tutorials on the page.

I added preset output modes for the Samsung PN42A450 and PN50A450 Series4 models of Plasma 3D-ready TVs. I don’t personally one of these monitors but I know that millions were sold and many people don’t even realize they have a 3D capability.

You will need to use HDMI input #2 (I think) and connect to your mac on the second DVI port so that you can set the Samsung monitor to its native resolution. (1350 x 768 or 1024 x 768)
Then set your FCP output for Desktop Preview – RAW. The plugin needs to scale horizontally for the non-square pixels of the monitor but it should work OK.

I would really like to get as much feedback as possible from users of the Samsung Plasma monitors. I would buy one if I could find one but I haven’t seen them in stores since last fall.

    Thanks, Tim

Alex. I just realized that you linked to the HL72A650, which has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. That’s great. You should be able to just set the plugin to Checkerboard 1920×1080 mode and you should also be able to use a Blackmagic Intensity of similar card.

Please let me know how it all works out by posting your findings in this thread.

    Hi

I work at NVIDIA as the product manager for our 3D Vision product and I would be happy to test any stereo movie streams if you want me to.

As a general rule I would recommend outputting in a side/side movie format as opposed to outputting directly into a checkboard pattern format. The reason I say that is that checkboard works fine for DLPs, but there are a variety of different types of 3D Formats already. Outputting in side/side allows the GeForce/Quadro GPU and drivers to handle it, and then convert it for viewing on any 3D display type. For example we can output to DLP checkerboard, pageflip 120 HZ LCD or projector, or even anaglyph. This saves you time as the author of the video since you dont have to remaster it to each format.

Andrew. Do you have 3D Nvidia driver that works with Mac OS X? I would love to explore this but my understanding was that only Windows could drive the 3D monitors (which is one of the reasons I started exploring options for FCP.)

The MacPro ships with the GT 120. Are there any 3D options for this card?

    Thanks, Tim

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys. With more research, I found that After Effects is probably better suited for this job. It has some standard filters for processing video as well as better control for polarizing streams. I still a little uncertain what the output is going to look like and exactly how its going to work. Guess ill have to wait for my glasses and 3D kit to really understand everything!

3D is the new color 🙂

    Hi Andrew,

Can I use Nvidia glasses with a macbook pro with GeForce 9600M GT, connected to either the viewsonic lcds or any of the dlp sets?
I want to be able to edit 3D video in FCP and view the main output as I’m working!

    regards

    Hi Simon,

Did you find already a solution for viewing sterescopic files on a macbook or osx system.
I’m looking for an affordabble solution to edit 3D-video en monitoring it also.

    Regards,

    Chris

Hey guys, I too am looking for a drivers for the nvidia glasses (the IR sync actually). I am working on a proof of concept pipeline for s3d miniature FX shooting. As this is proof of concept we have a limited budget. So the nvidia glasses would be great if we could get them to work within our FCP pipeline. Please let me know if you guys find anything.

    Cheers
