  Remove/paste attributes, filters singular?

  Hi everyone.

  Within FCP I know you can remove and paste attributes (alt-command+V, and alt+V respectively)

  Hypothetically speaking, lets just say I’ve done a grade using color corrector 3 way, and tweaked each clips so it looks nice. Then I apply another filter to a number of clips in my edit, but it doesn’t work for me, so I want to remove just that one filter, yet keep my color corrector filter on all the clips I’ve worked on.

  Can I just remove that one filter in one bulk hit? because remove attributes deletes all the filters… I know I can go through the clips and delete the unwanted filter manually, but that is just not practical.

  OK, I’ve written a bit of a dodgy example, but I hope you get my drift. Is there some way to do this?

  I don’t have the answer you’re looking for, but just a thought… maybe duplicate your sequence, and work on one as an experimental sequence and maintain the other sequence as your untouched sequence. So if you don’t like the filters you’re experimenting with, you still have your sequence intact. You could also nest your sequence, globally applied filters would be one step to add or delete.

  Thanks Jason, Thats a good idea, I thought the solution would be a workflow one..

  Although your suggestion is entirely valid and workable, it’s a shame FCP doesn’t have the option to fine tune your selection when it comes to this dilemma…another one for FCP 7 me thinks… 😉

  There are 2 XML workflow solutions out there for that purpose.
  One of them is done by me – I do not remember the other company (shame on me).

  andreas is right.
  the only way to automate this is via XML.

  but here’s a simple tip for doing it manually (if you have a lot to do, XML is teh way)

  double click the first timeline clip to open it i the viewer.
  go to the filters tab.
  here you can find the filter you want to delete, select it and delete.

  now the real part of the tip:
  while remaining in the viewer, hit the down arrow.
  you will jump to the NEXT clip in the timeline,
  and it will be open in the viewer, with the filter pane active.

  this works for other panes in the viewer, too: Motion, and the Color Corrector, and the Controls pane of generators.

  Thanks for all your replies people, really good. Cool, well the Remove Filter App by Andreas does the job good and proper.. thanks so much for that!

  The workflow solutions work well too, just need assess each situation on it’s merits and use one of these three suggestions accordingly…

  Nick thanks that was a big help to me as well. One quick note to point out though. Although you are jumping from clip to clip with the down arrow and the filter tab is still open which makes it easy to just uncheck or delete the filters…..Make sure you do it for Each video channel you have open. If you have more than one video channel it will ONLY be jumping to the next clip on that timeline….
