I’m seeing a chroma drop of about 10% on an orangey red logo after using Compressor- uncompressed QT to mpeg-2. For a 30 second spot the QT is about 900mb and the resulting mpeg-2 is about 55 mb. I’m actually seeing a significant chroma level drop on the Vectorscope. Does anyone have recomnendations on the settings in Compressor that could affect this i.e. two pass VBR vs CBR. Will increasing the avg bit rate and max rate improve this?

Is this chroma drop just a limitation of going from an uncompressed QT to mpeg-2? Any ideas greatly appreciated..Thanks

I don’t know why you’re experiencing the chroma drop. However, you could try adding some filtration in Compressor’s Filters tab in the Inspector. Increasing the data rate will improve any image, but I don’t know if that’d affect the chroma. Also, I usually use 2-pass VBR as it produces better (IMHO), more compact results. Run some short tests to see what happens.
