  Media Manager for 59.95 to 29.97 conversion?

  Hi there.

  I’m sitting with a ProRes422 720p29.97 sequence timeline. This contains clips at both @29.97 (conformed slowmo & FX) & @59.94 (unconformed). The cut renders fine and FCP is happy to handle both framerates in the 29.97 timeline. Color, however does not like it the moment you track / keyframe shapes with mixed framerate clips.

  Thus, I need to convert all the 720p59.94 to 29.97 before I can go to Color. Is there a way I can use Media manager to do the conversion? (The source material is basically 5x30min long 59.94 direct captures. Not individually logged clips. So converting everything is a bit crazy & some clips were reconformed for slowmo already). Tried to use Recompress with the 29.97 preset on the selected clips but FCP erred me “preset framerate will be ignored and original framerate retained”.

  Any working advice?

  720p is a 59.94 format. Or 23.98. 29.97 only if forced. Why are you forcing 720p into being 29.97?

  The media manager might work…never tried it for this purpose. Why not test it with a small sequence of a few clips and see what happens? Testing…the only way to know if stuff works.

  Try a test with Compressor, too. Compressor will be much faster than FCP as it uses all 8 if your cores.
