I just got a hdcam recorder to do some testing with my fcp setup (decklink HD). Everything looks ok in the way that I feed the deck with HD SDI and I get HD signal on my HD monitor from the deck. However, if I choose edit to tape, I just get blured-greenish noise. If I crash record evertyhing works perfectly (no sound, but looks just like I have’nt figured out how to choose embedded sound) Any hdw-d2000 wizards around that knows what the problem is. I have tried to figure out the deck but it is so hard to figure out the buttons…

Do you have reference going to the deck?

HDCAM? HDCAM-SR? 1080 or 720? What frame rate? You aren’t telling us much here…

    And yes, reference does matter.

I have figured out the sound problem (setting up embeded sound on the deck).

I work on 1080i25 PAL. Tried connecting the deck to ref, but no change. Everytime I choose Edit to tape I get red light on channel condition. If I crash record I get green light and all is okey.

After looking around in the Decklink forum I found out what this quite common problem was related to. You need to put the deck in INTERNAL sync (NOT EXTERNAL), and just remember to check “SET BLACK REF ON SDI VIDEO OUTPUT IN CAPTURE” in the decklink preference. So no sync with external source !!!
