  Clone operating system and programs

  Do many FCP editors make a copy of their Mac hard drive after they spend hours getting it configured? If so, what is the best way to do this? My new machine does have the time machine program, however I am sure I read somewhere on this forum where it causes problems with compressor.

  Or maybe everyone reloads the entire system if there are serious problems. I just know it is a very time consuming task and I was curious as to what most folks are doing. Just attempting to think ahead.

  Carbon Copy CLoner….found at versiontracker.com. Free. Clone to external HD, or to bare internal if you are on a macpro and there you go.

  Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper are both excellent free apps for cloning a bootable system drive. I personally always have a clone at the ready on an inexpensive firewire drive in case of emergencies or in case an Apple update screws-up my system somehow.
