choosing work-flow and mix format
Hi All,
I have some questions. Cause of this, I can’t go to sleep these days.
I have to use FCP, AJA Kona LHe, MAC Pro, Sony XDCAM EX3 and Sony HVR-A1P.
Those are not my choice, however I have to decide the work-flow and some way that can mix the various formats in HD PAL system. My final stuff is going to be HD PAL(1080 50i or 720P) then, I will send the file with hard disk to the station to satellite broadcast. they will convert it to the SD NTSC (720X486) to broadcast. in connection with this process, I have what I have to decide.
1. 108050i VS 720 25P
(Since my video switcher does not support 108025P, If I want to use 25P, I have to choose 72025P)After my work, I may be able to convert final stuff to SD PAL(720×576 25frame) or SD NTSC for local TV channel. but as i heard from someone, Progressive type(25P) is more efficient to make various format from final mater than Interlaced format. and It’s international standard. Is it true?
2. Using original codec? VS Using Proress codec.
As you know, the file format of EX3 is MP4 (wrapping format). that mean, I can export my final stuff to mp4 to send it to my client. But I read some article that some editors use proress codec for XDCAM EX clip. Is it better than using original format(mp4) of EX3? If it is, how can I use the proress codec in my work-flow.
3. Mix format with AJA kona Lhe and proress.
Since I also will use sony HVR-A1P camera with EX3. I need to mix both of format on one time line.
Regarding this, I read some article from apple news letter like following…‘Hinck and his team imported the VariCam and HDV footage into Final Cut Pro with ProRes compression, using AJA Kona cards and HD decks. Then they incorporated the assorted footage from makers using an uncompressed timeline. “We encoded it all as ProRes to make editing easier,” says Hinck. “ProRes allows us to edit uncompressed and work with layers and graphics without losing quality.”
I can not understand this in detail. How can I use proress compression with my ex3 file or captured HDV source? As I know, When I import some video file or capture video, I only could choose original format. so How can I convert my original file to Proress on FCP. And How can I make different resolution size to same. Especially, It is hard to understand the process of the article. Could someone explain that to me kindly?
