    Hi

I’m about to do a movie, that has to be delivered in the following format:

    FLV, codec: ON2 VP6
    height: 576, width: 324
constant bitrate with 400 kbps for the image and
audio: mp3 encoding with 256 kbs

My question is: Will FC Express be able to deliver this? Or do I need FC studio/pro?

    /Steffen

Neither, conversions to Flash require either plugins or outboard app. However, you can encode as .h264 QT and simply change the extension from .mov to .flv, which works for most situations.

Thanks David. The solution, you mention: Is that in FC Express or FC Pro?

I’m not sure about the capabilities FCE as I use FCP, but it should work for both.

The question between the two programs is not what codec to deliver the final mov in but what codec do you need to edit the movie in. Express is very limited, it handles DV, HDV and Apple Intermediate and that is about it. So if you are getting DVCPro, ProRes and several other codecs it will not work without transcoding everything.

Also Express lacks Compressor, Motion, DVDSP and Soundtrack Pro. So you need to define what you need to be able to do in editing to determine which is better.

Express maybe fine if you are just cutting together DV or HDV footage.
