HD Quicktime Conversion to Flash
Dear C.Cow,
I’m experiencing some issues when I try to export and convert my HD sequence to a FLASH Video. All I get is the spinning color wheel, which just spins and spins and spins. The export never goes through.

So I think that you have a problem exporting your HD sequence to Flash Peter, but with the details that you give is necessary a lat of imagination to figure out what’s going on.
Guessing that you try to export directly from your time-line through QT Conversion, try export a self contained movie first.

What software are you using?
We use both Adobe Flash and Episode Pro and don’t have any issues converting QT to Flash.

Well I just tried exporting an HD sequence to a FLASH video and got the spinning OS color wheel and have to force quite from FCP. There really isn’t much more information to offer at this time. Thank you.

I’m using Final Cut Studio 2, Final Cut version 6.0.5

“Well, then you have a plug-in installed since FCP does not support export to Flash natively.
It’s probably a problem with the plug-in or you may not have everything in your timeline rendered fully. I would export a reference QT movie and let compressor do the conversion if possible.

If you have Adobe Flash (the program) installed on your machine, it installs flash export into QT.
However, I have the same problem. The export works great, but for some reason the progress bar doesn’t update and the whole time you’ll have the spinning wheel. But it does work.
I usually just go to the finder and watch the flash file getting bigger and bigger. And if you know how large the file will be, it’s easy to guesstimate how long it’s going to take. But an export could be a large 30min export, and it’s hard to sit and not know if FCP has crashed. Exporting to a self contained movie and then exporting through QT Pro frees up FCP during the export.
