Outputting
Hello,
I am having an output issue with FCP. I’ve tried both ‘Edit to Tape’ and ‘Print to Video’, but neither one appears to work.
What happens is Final Cut seems to think the video is outputting. The output screen plays the video, and the camera and the camera timecode start running, but neither the audio or video goes to tape; there is just that blue screen!
I exported the video as a .mov and brought it into iMovie, and it got to tape just fine.
I’m guessing there is some sort of setting I have wrong in FCP (why is it so particular?).
Here are a few other details:
I am trying to output to Mini DV with a Sony SteadyShot DCR-HC65
In order to save a bit of cash (I’m a rather broke student), I’m reusing Mini DVs. Maybe it would work on a clean tape?
I am using version 5.1.4 of Final Cut Pro
I am using firewire.Thanks a bunch.

Hi Ellis,
There is nothing wrong with FC.
You need to set the camera/desk properly.
When you get the picture in your camera LCD, you just need to REC.

Did you choose a dv ntsc easy setup and make sure your video output is set to all frames?

I tried that, but still no luck. Also, if the camera’s settings weren’t correct, would iMovie still be able to output onto it?Ellis

Does that camera accept Firewire as an input? If so, then that would most likely require you to tell the camera to take the Firewire Input.

No. The camera must be set the same for both application.
Have you being using the camera for monitoring?
Did you ever printed to video with this camera?
There are some old models that have FW OUT, but not IN.
Have a look in the menu to see if have a kind of DV IN/OUT function.

I have printed to tape with this camera, yes. I mentioned in my post that I had gotten it to tape with iMovie fine.

Yes, I said I was using firewire and that I got it to tape with iMovie just fine.

Do you have other firewire devices attached to your machine? If so, remove them.

My camera is the only device attached.
