    Hi,

I’m working with AE7, and am doing a corporate video the includes video, stills, Illustrator and Photoshop logo’s along with text.

Because there is VO, music, and the client likes to sit down with me to go over it, I decided to compile it all in FCP 5.1.4, as I have each section in it’s own COMP in AE7, as to not slow things down, thus I export/render out each section individually and bring it into FCP.

I have the timeline in FCP set with a compressor of Animation to matchup with the lossless render setting.

The problem is that it looks perfectly fine in AE7 in the render preview, but when I bring it into FCP, the edges on the logo’s and text are jagged, and I’m not sure how to fix this.

    Does anyone have any ideas??

    Thanks,
    Scott

Try double clicking the clip in the viewer, does it look sharp there? I’ve noticed that too with FCP . . . but it renders out ok. For some reason FCP previews it jaggy like that in the canvas. Make sure your clip dimensions match FCP. I remember reading somewhere that FCP uses a different square-pixel image dimension. I’m not sure exactly. Do a test of a short clip – export it out of FCP and see if it looks sharp.

Assuming your project is 720×480 or 720×486… In FCP, go to your footage bin, and make sure your rendered clip is set to LOWER fields. If not, set it to LOWER, and then re-insert it back into your timeline. Also, double check your render settings in AE. That always gets me, too. HTH!

    Thanks,
    Jason
