Edit to Tape Audio Lag
Hi all,
I have a problem for which I have a workaround, but I’m hoping someone can explain why it’s happening, or even a way to get to the root of the problem.
Here’s the scenario;
8 Core 3.2 GHz Mac Pro
16GB Ram
Kona 3, converting HD timeline to SD into Digi deck via SDI.
8 drive (about 5.5TB formatted) Fibre Channel RAID, roughly 80% full.I have a finished programme that I’m laying on to Digi. It’s all fully rendered, video and audio.
During the layoff occasionally it’ll drop a frame, so I have to set my in point a little before the dropped frame and then continue the ETT.
The problem I’m experiencing is that if I set this in point somewhere in the middle of a piece of rendered audio, the video comes in fine but the audio comes in late.
My workaround is just to make sure the in point is exactly on the frame where a new audio render begins. This is ok, if a little annoying, so is there anyone who can help me get to the bottom of it?Clearly one sure fix is to make sure my drives are running faster by clearing some space on them – at 80% full it’s not unexpected to be getting the odd dropped frame. I’m sure that’s not the reason for the audio lag, though.
All the best,
Alex Elkins
