I’m wondering how to name all imported clips with like a common prefix and sequential numbering system?

Using XDCAM Clip Browser and the Transfer programs I can only seem to get the media to list the name of the SxS/SDHC card as a prefix, then the default clip name vs having a prefix of my choice followed by sequential numbers or something like that.

For example, I would like the to have a naming convention to be something like this:

    Auto Event 1
    Auto Event 2
    Auto Event 3
    etc etc

Similar to how HDV pulls in clips via Log and Capture, where you can set the name with a number and it will automatically keep the name and change the number sequentially.

I’m noticing that every project I pull in is using the same default name/number and it’s going to be impossible to find clips in archive down the line if there are repeating names…

Do I have to name each clip individually?

Thanks Andy! I did not have that checked under Import in the Preferences menu. Very simple now. I get it!

In XDCAM Transfer, just multi select as many or as few clips as you want and type a new name into the Clip >> Title field in the Logging tab of the pane at lower right of the XDCAM Transfer interface … its that simple. Now when you import then they will come in a XYZ_01, XYZ_02 etc (Note: make sure in your XDCAM Transfer prefs under the Import tab you have selected Filename >> Add clip title

    Hope it helps
