  • Is it possible to make a flash banner like this in AE?

    Hi there

Basically i want to make a flash banner for my site but….i hate flash and want to use AE to make it if possible! like in this site https://www.web-mania.com/ you know the flash they have there? i dont need it to be interactive, just a nice bit of animation that will load relatively quickly on most computers.

You can save out of AE as a flash file can’t you? Well any tips would be much appreciated….I’ve got AE CS3 now and the Flash Video Encoder….if they would help?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes you can. Just output an .swf.

I’d recommend doing it in flash though, because you could have the banner randomly pull images, so it isn’t as sequential. Also, flash will use the image a single time, and after effects will use it multiple times per frame in the .swf. Thats ae’s big problem right now in my mind, it doesn’t make ‘intelligent’ .swf files.

To sum up what I just said, which may have been convoluted, if you output a banner out of AE and use rasterized footage or photographs, the files are huge. If you output the same style out of flash, it is much smaller.

See if you can buy some templates if you aren’t flash savvy.

But can you achieve the same text animations and mirror effects in Flash?
Dunno, I run away screaming whenever I open Flash.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    yes you can,
do not use motion blur or 3d space, simply work in 2d as you would in flash this will output a smaller size swf. Flash can take awhile to import a .swf when you are outputing from AE from my experience.

I created this animation in after effects and then imported into Flash for buttons and etc.

final outfile from flash was around 1.4 megs i believe.

took alongtime to make, almost would of been faster to do in all flash.
