Dell 2707wfp good for Motion Graphics?

I’m wondering if anyone out there is using the new Dell 2707wfp
monitor with after effects/ final cut pro and how they like it? Most of the reviews I’ve read about it say the picture quality is very good to excellent and that there isn’t any ghosting for games, the white and black levels are good, etc. Just wondering if there are ny motion graphics people out there using it and what they think?It’s this one…

June 26, 2007 at 2:26 amI’m a really big fan of all Dell Ultrasharp LCD monitors. Most LCD monitor manufacturers get the actual LCD panels from other suppliers (i.e. they don’t make the actual LCD panels themselves, they just provide the guts and casing). Some brands use cheaper, low quality panels but the Dells are very nice, and use the same panels found in more expensive monitors.
I have purchased probably 10 Dell Ultrasharps, including the 24″ models, over the past 5 years and have never once received any with even one dead pixel. That is pretty unheard of when it comes to LCDs.
I know I sound like a Dell spokesman or something, but while I don’t prefer their computers their monitors really are a good buy, and are second only to the much more pricey Apple Cinema Displays.

June 26, 2007 at 5:55 amI prefer Lacie monitors . . . actually I’m still using an Electron Blue CRT for more accurate color for print and motion design, with an external monitor to display accurate NTSC colors. From what I recall, I believe the Lacie LCD’s are more accurate than other LCD’s (in their price range at least) for broadcast due to their 12-bit gamma. They are more expensive though. Dell makes great stuff, so, if you’re worried about getting acurate color for broadcast, get an external NTSC monitor.
Color Grading presets for After Effects, Premiere, etc., plus free presets and more.

I have the Dell 24″ monitor connected from the dvi from a Blackmagic Multibridge Extreme. I am very impressed with the overall quality of the image.

June 26, 2007 at 1:52 pmThe Dell 24 inch monitor changed my life. It rocks. It didn;t even require any color adjustment at all. Shocking!
I also have a samsung Synchmaster 204BW (20″) monitor which is not quite as good, but cheeper and good enough.
But if you can afford a Dell, go for it.

June 26, 2007 at 3:42 pmI just bought a 24 inch ultrasharp and compaired to my old 19 4X3 dell lcds this thing is beautiful. Compaired to the old monitors the whites are white and blacks are clean black. My next step is to have the monitor calibrated and see what happens. BTW if you are going to be running dual monitors make sure you have a pretty good graphics card. My quadro 1400 is hurting with my current setup of 1) 24 inch wide, and 1) 19inch 4X3 dell monitors. You definetley want a graphics card with more then 128mb memory. Good luck

I’ve got a 2405fpw and it’s great…especially for FCP work. The extra landscape is great. I’ve also got a 17″ sitting next to it for my bins etc so just my canvas/viewer and timeline are on my 24.Kinda on a side note….Anyone have any good window layouts for AE? I’m still trying to get a comfortable one on the dual monitors and widescreen but I haven’t found anything yet. Didn’t mean to hijack the thread…email me if you like 🙂

June 28, 2007 at 1:14 amOur office is all Dells. Dual monitors on 5 systems, plus a 24 inch backlit Dell for HD monitoring.
We get compliments all the time.
