    Hi,

I an finally retiring my old MBP in favour of a new shiney octo-core desktop beast.

I have a lot of plugins, presets and all kinds of malarky in my current FCS setup, and I am wondering if there is anyway of just transferring the FCS install across to my new machine and not have to worry about chasing down all the install files and the like for both FCS and all my plugins/presets etc.

Anyone done this before? is it possible?

    Cheers

    Pete.

You can use the migration assistant or you can clone your MBP’s hard drive and put it into your new system.

I would recommend you start FRESH and take the time to reinstall everything manually (you do have your original discs for all your apps?). Yes, it will take a lot of time but this will insure you will have less of a chance with problems on your new system.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I’ve got the FCS 2 install DVDs boxed so thats not to much of a problem. My main worry is tracking down all the installers for the plugins. Thankfully I think the vast majority are FXFactory based, so I am hoping they wont be too much of a hassle. But there’s a handful of them that all had individual installers and serial numbers. These might be more problematic.

Anyways… thanks again for your input.

    Cheers

Do NOT migrate. FCP installs some things into the OS that do not migate over. So if you migrate your FCP may act funny and you would then need to reinstall from the disks anyway.
