  • FCP will not reboot even after prefs are trashed

    Hi,

I am having a strange issue with FCP 6.05. I trashed my prefs because the program was not opening. This usually resolves any issue I might have this time… No dice. It keeps stalling forever on the intro slate and then I just wind up force quitting out of it. What the heck could it be? I repaired permissions too. I’m out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

I think the initial issue may have been caused by a huge project file I had that incorporated a ton of files that had been converted by RAYLIGHT. Those files are now long gone and FCP is seeking them out in order to open with that project off the bat.

thanks in advance. any suggestions would be appreciated.

You’ve probably already tried rebooting your Mac right? If so, try to open another FCP project if you have one on file, to avoid that large project you think may be causing issues? If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest a reinstall of FCP? Good luck.

    Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried to reboot. I tried other project files. Nothing seems to work. Today I did open fcpt and after like an hour it actually opened. I changed prefs to open with an empty project and restarted fCP thinking it would be smooth again but no luck. IF you can think of anything else I would greatly appreciate it. I don’t have my original software disk.
