I’ve got a Quad Core 2 X 2.8Ghz w/10.5.2 and 6 GB DDR2. FC is version 6.0.3. And I’ve got an older Medea RT w/sczi connection. We generally use this suite to cut footage from XDCAM discs. It doesn wonderfully with that.

We have some footage from a consumer JVC camcorder. It’s the HD7, records to an internal hard drive. The files are .TOD files. We’ve loaded the footage to the suite. The footage is almost not watchable without rendering it first. Without being rendered, it freezes, plays, freezes, plays.

I’ve got two mysteries within a conundrum! When we open the project, it takes 45 minutes! When we render, it crashes almost immediately. We can render a very, very short clip, but the whole process is buggy and unpredictable. Everytime it crashes, it takes 45 more minutes to restart! At this rate, we’ll finish the render in about six months!

The fellow who owns this camera, edits it on FC at his home with success. We just had him on the phone, and he went over all of our settings with my editor, and said we’ve got everything hooked up right and he’ll stop by tomorrow to look at it.

    Any ideas? Thank you.
