  • Importing Curious Labs’ Poser 6 Models into After Effects

    Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place, but here goes…I’ve been researching online how to bring into AE my Curious Labs’ Poser 6 model, and came up with zip.

I’m creating an animatic of a guitar player performing on a stage, under the bright cone of a single spotlight. I’ve finished the model and was planning to bring it into AE, so I could use Trapcode’s Lux effects and camera movements on it as well. How is this done if at all possible? Been wracking my brains on this and trawling the web…hence this letter… 🙂

thanks very much, appreciate any help i could get on this

You might be able to bring the models into AE using Zaxwerks Invigorator.

But without Zax, AE can only import sounds and 2D images. No 3D models.

Like most 3D apps, you need to render out the footage (animate in poser) with alpha, then use that in AE. That really means that you’ll want to add your lights and other things in Poser, so they interact properly. You can then add some volumetric light in AE to match, but you are really just faking it there…

You can render footage out of poser and bring that footage into AE for post processing. Poser is not your best choice for this kind of 3D. You might want to look into Cinema 4D, Maya, 3ds Max, Blender or XSI.

thanks everyone,i appreciate the help very much, it certainly cleared up some road blocks i had…

    >>Arson XL–yup, i’m definitely looking into Cinema 4D, after reading a lot of glowing feedback on this app. however, i use Poser for quick 3D modeling of human figures because speed-wise, its tops (like zaxwerks is for quick extruded text).

    thanks again everybody!
