Quicktime compression is jerky
I am creating virtual tours using FCP HD 4.5 and only still photos with a pan and zoom effect. I have been using a Pal frame rate as I am in Europe and sometimes need to make DVD’s from the film.
However I am having trouble when using Quicktime compression for playback on computers. When played back the movement is very jerky, not smooth like the original. I am using the following parameters
Compression: H.264
Quality: best
Frame rate: 24
Frame reordering: yes
Encoding: multipass
Dimensions: 800 x 600Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I set up DV Pal and it automatically gives me 24 fps

Sorry my mistake, the frame rate is PAL but the keyframe rate was every 24 frames.

Hi Linne,
I don’t think that this is the cause of the “jerkyness” but I would recommend you set the Keyframes to Automatic.
What data rate had you set?
In your second post you said:

Please disregard the statement “I set up DV Pal and it automatically gives me 24 fps”
I reset keyframe rate to automatic and the data rate to automatic, and the movie is still jerky.
I am wondering could it be my computer which is not powerful enough, laptop Powerbook G4 with 2Gb ram. -
Hi Lynne,
For a resolution of 800×600 I would try something like 1500/2000Kbps.
WIt will reduce the file size and ll keep good quality.
Uncheck Optimized for Download/Streaming or any other option.
