  WARNING BR-HD50 deck update

  Fair Warning! We just had a problem where the firmware version 0109 for the BR HD50 deck stopped it’s ability to communicate with FCP 6.0.5.
  This affected all 5 decks which were updated.
  Since JVC doesn’t leave the older 0108 on their site, I “can’t go home” right now.
  I have informed them of this issue and they are “getting back to me”.

  If you don’t need to, don’t update past firmware 0108 for right now.
  If you need to find the version your on, have the deck plugged in to a monitor, turned on with the display visible, and hit the “stop” and “Menu” button simultaneously and your firmware version appears.

  I’ll let everyone know what JVC tells me…

  wow. can’t say I’m surprised anymore.

  This is why I have never updated the firmware in my HD50 deck.

  there was another issue, where some functionality was lost
  on a different firmware.

  The deck performs to specs, can capture the 24p,30P and does
  what I need, so I’ll never be updating it. For this very reason.
