Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy final cut bug?

  • Posted by Sebastian Swallow on April 16, 2009 at 8:03 am

    Hello,

I have two Mac Pros both are 2 x 2.8 GHZ quad core intel xeons with 16gb of Ram running Final Cut 6.0.5 with the media coming off Disc Arrays connected to the computers via Fibre.

Just in the last week I have had problems with my final cut. It started off where by if I changed the length of a shot it would then continuously play the two shots that I was editing, over and over again, no matter where I am on the timeline.

Now it happens as soon as I open final cut, where ever I am on the time line when I open a sequence it will play the shot on either side over and over again as though there were no other shots in my timeline. This has started happening on both my computers, one more than the other. I have created new projects and tried in numerous old projects and it keeps happening!

Has anyone else experienced this problem?? Please help! I haven’t been able to cut properly for a week now.

    Thanks

Never heard of this problem, but have you tried the usual cures – trash preferences, repair disk permissions, remove new hardware etc. I’d try all of those standard fixes before admitting being beaten by a machine!

    Try deleting the render files.

[Sebastian Swallow] “This has started happening on both my computers,”

It’s not a bug in the software, it’s on your systems.
I have read and re-read your post many times and I cannot imagine anything that could possibly cause this on different project on multiple machines. It’s possible to set in and out points and tell FCP to loop them but that is easy switched off and, besides, you must make an effort to set it up and push the loop function.

I believe I have worked out the problem.

Someone recently installed a lock widget so that if you are signed in you can lock your account without logging out.

It seems that everytime an account is locked and then unlocked with final cut open this problem occurs.

    Sorry to waste everyone’s time!
