Does anyone know of a filter in Final Cut that will make a layer appear like it’s being reflected in a mirror? Obviously I’m not talking about the “mirror” filter that splits the image in two…I want to make an image look like it’s being reflected in a mirror…I guess it should look kind of blurry, but all the blur filters I tried seem too extreme. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

That’s not a filter. That’s careful preproduction planning and a good compositor.

You need to shoot both angles on set.

If the mirror is covered with greenscreen or bluescreen, you can key it out & add the reverse image back in. If not, you’ll have to rotoscope the mirror & add the reverse image.

And if the cameras aren’t locked off perfectly, you’ll have to stabilize or track one or both images to match them together.

    Thanks Arnie.

Of course I should have started out by saying that we’re not actually shooting anything…except an actress against a green screen. All the background images I already have in place. That’s why I was wondering if there’s any filter I could use to make the image that I put inside a mirror actually look like it’s coming from a mirror…some effect to set it apart from everything surrounding it, like a blurriness, or maybe what looks like a coat of dust (since this is supposed to be an old mirror).
