Does anyone have the Accom Affinity Codec they could send me? I’ve searched the forum, but the links from the old posts are not working any more.

I also emailed Accom technical support. But of course, I’m on a deadline and need a couple of shots I have from my old system tonight.

If anyone could help me out that would be great. Either email me the codec or direct me where I might be able to download it tonight.

    Thanks,

    sent to your e-mails.

Not sure if it still functions. The codec is quite old, but is the OSX version.

    John,

Thanks. I copied the “Affinity Video Codec into the QuickTime folder in the Applications/Library folder.

I no longer get the message saying I need to download a codec when I try to open up the clip in Quicktime. But there is no video, just black.

In FCP I get a Red/White ‘Codec could not be opened.’ graphic on in the browser.

This is footage from the Accom Stratosphere, but I read somewhere that the Sphereous Codec was just for OS 9, and that the Affinity Codec would work.

Thanks for responding to the post and sending me the email. Maybe Accom support will email soon, but I’m quickly running out of time.

    David

Accom no longer exists. The assets were folded into Abekas a few years ago.

The OS X version of the codec was PowerPC only.

I would keep a PowerPC machine around, just to do transcoding. Or use the Windows version of the codec in BootCamp perhaps?

    Thanks,

I have a PowerPC around but it sometimes takes quite a bit to get it to boot. I’m glad you posted, since I just received the link from Accom a few minutes before your post. Now I won’t waste time trying to get it to work.

Since I was running out of time I’ve been trying to finish up without using the old footage.

But I will definitely try to boot it up when I have some free time and transfer some of the shots I think I might be using.

    Again, thanks for the post.

    Hi John,

Is there any chance you can send this codec to me? We have some Accom Affinity quicktime footage that we need to be able to use. Can’t get access to it or play it without the codec.

    I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you,
