I am having a problem with my batch lists and my Reconnection of media files in Final Cut Pro 6.

I have an editor capturing all of our media on a Mac Mini and adding log notes to make my editing life easier. I have him transferring all the files to a dummy drive and then transferring it over to the master (I know it is not the easiest way of doing it but with our budget almost gone on this project minus the editing we do not have many options).

When I import the batch list that he exported it adds all the files that he captured, but when I reconnect the media it will not reconnect more than one at a time, even when all the files are in the same folder and I have the option selected for it to reconnect all media in relative files.

Does anyone know how to fix this, because this adds almost an hour of reconnecting media each day as we have over 200 files right now that have to be reconnected everyday?

I have actually figured out the problem….

With out going into a huge explanation of why…

What you have to do is go into your finder and change the file name through the info menu from “filename.mov” to “Filename” for some reason final cut does not like the extensions and even if you don’t see them in your browser the file still has the extension and is hiding it… The only way to change them I have found is manually doing it through the info window.

If anyone knows another easier fix… please let me know…

But for now I can reconnect bins and bins of clips… and that makes me a happy editor.

Are you selecting all of your media when you go to reconnect or just one clip?

You have to select all of the clips that you want to reconnect in order to do more than one at a time. The option to reconnect media in all relative files doesn’t really do much.
