I have a Macbook Pro 17″ with 4GB in Ram. I would like to edit with a second monitor (a CRT Compaq with the Mini DVI adapter)) to put the Browser & Effects Tabs, leaving the MacBook with Viewer/Canvas & Timeline.
    Is it possible ?

Yes, but if you’re using a CRT, you might need the VGA adaptor.

Ok, this adapter comes with MacBook Pro ( link: https://store.apple.com/us/product/M8754G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MjE0ODQzNw ).
How do I set up FCP to do that ? I meant, moving my cursor from my MacBook to the CRT ….

Plug in your monitor. Change the monitor system preferences so that “mirror” is not selected. Open FCP. Select “Window- Arrange”. From that menu, you’ll see some dual monitor set ups. Choose one you want. Modify it how you want, then save it as a preset.

    It’s really quite simple.
