    Hi all,
i need some advice about exporting an hour and a half edit from FCP. The footage was shot with the P2, dvcprohd 24p. For some reason (i assume cause of corrections and effects added to the edit) the export time is of about 17 hours and growing, i’ve exported the same footage before (without the effects) in about two hours.
So, since it’s taking too long to export it to burn into a dvd, i’m a little lost on my other options.
i was considering to export to tape, minidv or betacam, but since this is a 23.97 fps project, how do i take it into a deck (dvcam or betacam) that records on 29? or am i wrong here?
We are trying to do a private showing with these material in a movie theater, mainly to check lipsyncing and visual effects, are there any codecs i could use for compressing this material and see if the export time in FC lowers without losing THAT much info? what about exporting in dvcpro/ntsc?
One more thing, maybe i should add another post for this one but i’ll give it a try here, i get in FC an alert about my startup disk getting almost full. I’m not quite sure about this one since the disk where the fcp folders are is an external with 500 gb available, it is true that the main disk where the application is located has like 4gb free, eventhough the info is not going there, could that be part of the problem?
    thanks for your help

Did you render everything to Full before you exported?

    All the best,

good point, no, i didn’t. Would that be enough to fix that? Worst case scenerio: what if still adding the time of rendering and exporting i still get high numbers?

Tom asked if you’d rendered “Full” for good reason Andrea, because we see this all the time, so it’s easy to diagnose. There’s no reason to bounce questions back and forth about it, you need to do check ‘Full” and render on every project, period, end of story.

And, having just 4gb space left on any drive in the system is a recipe for disaster.
