1080i60 to 720p30
I’m not editing this show, just supplying footage, but want to make sure there won’t be problems.
Client’s HDV show is in 720p30. I have some footage from a Z1 shot at 1080i60. Can I simply ingest via HDV codec, and export a Quicktime at HDV 720p30, or will the client experience strange problems down the road?

Hi Bob,
You need to put the i60 in a p30 sequence and de-interlace.
You will end up with p30.

Thank you Rafael. When I apply the de-interlace filter it has options for upper, lower, etc. Which is the appropriate setting for HDV footage from the Sony Z1?
I tried lower field, which looks sharper than upper, but I guess I need some reassurance, as I still don’t have the HD monitor I asked Santa for.

Hi Bob,
All the HD (HDV, XDCAM, HDCAM, DVCProHD) are Upper-first.

interesting. I tried upper and lower, and lower looked much clearer on playback. I was using the Kona LHe card to output SD to my 19″ SD Sony monitor, so I could be wrong.
