Easiest way to handwrite
Posted by Julio Crespo on June 16, 2007 at 5:19 amI need to simulate handwrite on a long paragraph. I already view the tuts here, but that way is very tedius to do in a whole paragrah. Any other way??

June 16, 2007 at 2:27 pmSorry, you may know this, but there’s no fast automatic way to do it, since fonts don’t include information on stroke order and direction. I don’t know if it’ll ever happen, since the biggest market for type is in print.
You could try using auto-trace on the handwriting then add stroke, but there’s no guarantee it would look right.
I’d do it by hand with vector paint or write-on, with a stroke slightly bigger than the type, and use this stroke as a matte to reveal the type underneath. It’s tedious to write the paragraph, but it’s faster than drawing masks, I think. Sometimes, if the effect is worth it, you have to go get a coffee, put on some music, sit down and slog through it.
However, if the type is small, the speed is fast and the paragraph long, consider drawing straight, thick lines to use as mattes that reveal each line of text in a wipe. You might be able to get away with it, depending on the font. I say this because I think that revealing a lot of text at the slow speed of handwriting is a bad idea, since people read much faster than they write, and if the audience is expected to … read … this … as … it’s … being … written … they’ll get frustrated.
