[kerik ino] “Anyone else had this issue? I suspect it is related to my font cache somehow, but I’m not quite sure how. Are certain typefaces or families no good for FCP? “
Yes, I had this as part of an overall issue with my Mac Pro last year. Basically my Font Book tool stopped working and all 2,000 fonts that I have on my machine were active at all times. Even temporarily removing 1500 of them did not stop FCP from crashing so there might have been one or two fonts that were causing the issue.
This all started after I used Time Machine to Restore my machine one time. Thus I would never recommend anyone actually use Time Machine’s Restore function on an FCP system.
I ended up completely erasing my MacHD and starting over the past Christmas break and since then, I’ve had no issues. So my guess you either have too many fonts active, or you have one or more “bad” fonts that are causing FCP to crash.
