  Mac Mini New 2009 model

  Just received via Fedex after ordering yesterday 3:30p.

  2.0 320GB 2GB Ram

  FW800 Mini to Lacie Drive, FW400 from Lacie to DSR11 Deck. Works great in initial DV50 and DV test. No HD in my current workflow.

  Motion titles no problem – rendered out as quick as my MacPro 2.8 with 8 gigs ram – on 2g on the mini. But these titles were simple with zoom effects – no big deal. Did not try any heavy processor-intensive work.

  FCP 6.0.5
  Placed a DV50 23 second clip on a DV50 timeline – slo-mo 50% and resized to letterbox: 1 minute to render. Same test 23 second DV clip with DV timeline took 17 seconds.

  Feels snappy, and I’m relieved – this is going to serve its purpose just fine.

  We’ll see how it does with Sapphire and Boris Red later.

  Keep us posted on the good, bad and ugly with the new mini. This could prove to be a good cost effective way to go for log/capture, intern/apprentice editing type systems.
